Intent
Art, craft and design embody some of the highest forms of human creativity, and the appreciation and enjoyment of the visual arts enriches all our lives. At Knowle Park Primary, we therefore value art and design as a vital part of a broad and balanced curriculum. We aim to nurture our children's natural creative instinct and equip them with the skills, techniques, knowledge and experiences that will help their ideas come to life. We give them the opportunity to explore different medium, make mistakes and develop their creative ideas to produce a final piece that they can feel proud of.
Our art curriculum endeavours to engage, inspire and challenge pupils, introducingâ¯them to an appreciation of the arts that will last a lifetime.â¯Through our inclusion of a local and diverse range of artists, children learn how art both reflects and shapes our history. Our sustainable approach to art means we are mindful of the resources we use and how we use them. As pupils progress, they continue to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of art and design. By the end of Year 6, we hope that our children will not only hugely enjoy art, but also feel confident in themselves as artists.
